What is IamResponding?

IamResponding is an end-to-end emergency response system that puts critical data into the hands of first responders. Is IaR the same as IamResponding?

Yes. We often shorten IamResponding to IaR. We might use it in conversation, and you’ll see it used on the app tile.

How does IamResponding work?

After receiving a dispatch notification through any existing dispatch system (or through IamResponding to any of your mobile devices), responders simply press a button on IaR’s free app, or speed dial one number on any phone.

In one quick view, department chiefs, team leaders and dispatchers immediately see who is responding, their level of certification/qualification, the time that they are responding, and where they are responding (station or scene). No one needs to answer any telephone or radio calls from any responders, and no software needs to be purchased or installed.

With IamResponding, no more time is wasted waiting for members who are not responding, reactivations are issued much sooner when not enough responders are en route to the station or scene, and response times are significantly reduced.

In addition to providing communications and alerts, and incident response tools, IamResponding can help with all department management needs.

RapidSOS securely links life-saving data from 400 million connected devices to emergency services worldwide through its emergency response data platform. What is your relationship with RapidSOS?

Through a new integration with RapidSOS, IamResponding members can unlock access to data like never before. When an emergency comes in, they’ll be equipped with rich-incident data like location, health profiles, vehicle telematics, alarm information and more. This gives first responders unprecedented situational awareness, helping them make critical decisions when it matters most.

Does it matter how many devices or members I have?

No. All IamResponding subscriptions cover an unlimited number of members at the same department, and an unlimited number of devices. There are no per-user or per-device charges. Each member can also load their IaR app on all of their mobile devices, and receive incident notifications to all of those devices simultaneously.

Do we need new hardware?

No. IamResponding is a web-based system. All you need is an internet-connected computer that is able to run a current browser version (preferably Chrome, Firefox or Safari). We do encourage all fire departments and EMS departments to have at least one monitor in the bay that is displaying the IamResponding system continuously. That can be connected to a simple computer running an Internet connected browser. Nothing expensive or complicated is necessary.

Do we need any software?

No. IamResponding is a web-based system that does not require you to download or configure any software. If you want it, there is a small piece of downloadable software that will automatically log your computer into your IaR account, but that is not required and is typically only used for in-station kiosk-type displays.

Do I need a special phone?

No. IamResponding can work from any phone, including smartphones, flip phones, and even landlines. You can indicate your response status from any of those phones. IamResponding’s free app works on any current iOS (Apple) and Android device with internet connectivity.

Is IamResponding a reliable system?

IamResponding is the most reliable web-based system in the emergency services industry.
